Documented specifications
Algo · Manufacturer product, documentation and firmware resources were current at review, including the September 22, 2026 user-guide update and 2026 firmware 5.7 release listing. Exact regional inventory, purchased hardware revision, approved firmware, licences and remaining support period were not established.
| Specification | Documented value |
|---|---|
| SIP and call role | One documented SIP extension can initiate or answer calls; the call button dials one configured target that can be a hunt-group number Source ↗ |
| Audio | Hands-free two-way audio with G.711 µ-law, G.711 A-law and G.722; installed intelligibility, gain and echo performance were not measured Source ↗ |
| Door I/O | Built-in normally open or normally closed dry-contact relay is listed at 30 V and 50 mA, plus a dry-contact door-sensor input; the optional 8063 can move door control into a protected location Source ↗ |
| Power | IEEE 802.3af Class 0 PoE input; the current product page lists 6 W maximum while the current product sheet lists 4 W maximum, so acceptance must use the purchased unit and approved documentation Source ↗ |
| Mounting and environment | Surface or flush mounting in a two-gang box; product sheet lists −40 to +50 °C and outdoor use with appropriate gaskets, while perimeter cabling can require lightning protection Source ↗ |
| Multicast | Receive-only RTP multicast for 50 zones and Poly Group Page reception are listed; SIP calling and multicast paging remain separate traffic and priority paths Source ↗ |
| Protection and provisioning | TLS, SRTP and mutual authentication plus HTTP/HTTPS management and TFTP, FTP, HTTP or HTTPS provisioning are documented; certificate trust and negotiated use were not verified Source ↗ |
| Management and supervision | REST API, SNMP, ADMP, Algo 8300 and RTCP support are documented; the guide enables HTTPS but notes the device starts without a trusted certificate and exposes a default admin password that must be replaced Source ↗ |
Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.
Choose the call and responder workflow before the enclosure
The 8201 can originate or answer a hands-free SIP call through one documented extension. Define the call-button target, responder ownership, ring or hunt sequence, no-answer treatment, opening hours, callback policy and what the visitor hears before provisioning the device. The guide warns against allowing the call to reach voicemail, but a hunt-group label does not prove that every member can hear, identify and release the correct entrance.
Test ordinary visitor calls, rejected calls, no answer, busy responders and power or PBX loss. A successful registration or call-button press does not prove two-way intelligibility, authorized release, accessibility or an emergency call path.
Keep the public intercom and secure relay boundary explicit
The 8201 contains a low-current dry-contact relay and a door-sensor input. Algo separately documents the optional 8063 controller for placing door control inside a building or other secure location, because a relay exposed at the public intercom can be compromised. Choose the security architecture before wiring the lock, strike, gate or access-control input.
Verify voltage, current, isolation, normally open or normally closed behavior, lock power supply, fire-alarm or emergency-release interface, request-to-exit path, door-position sensing and fail-safe or fail-secure policy with qualified access-control and life-safety owners. A keypad digit that moves the relay is not evidence that the door assembly is safe or code-compliant.
Treat keypad release as a privileged command
The quick-start procedure uses a phone keypad digit to activate the relay, but the accepted digit, caller, inbound or outbound call direction and control target must be verified in the loaded configuration. Restrict who can call or answer the intercom, who can send unlock input and how the action is logged. Do not assume that protected SIP signaling authenticates the human pressing a key.
Test authorized release, denied callers, malformed or repeated digits, call transfer, forwarded calls and simultaneous attempts. Keep remote REST or simple-control interfaces disabled unless a documented application needs them, then protect authentication, network reachability and audit evidence independently.
Install the outdoor and PoE assembly as one system
The user guide describes the 8201 as weather protected and supplies gaskets, but installation conditions still matter. Preserve the specified surface or flush mounting, enclosure mating surfaces, cable route, drainage and appropriate gaskets. When network cabling crosses the building perimeter, follow the documented lightning-protection boundary and the applicable local electrical design.
The current product page and product sheet disagree on maximum power: 6 W versus 4 W. Do not silently choose either value for a shared PoE budget. Record the purchased hardware and approved datasheet, then measure or reserve conservatively under the switch and design owner's policy. Outdoor temperature or compliance figures do not validate field workmanship or door-code acceptance.
Separate SIP, multicast, management and supervision paths
SIP calling, receive-only multicast paging, web management, provisioning, REST or SCI control, SNMP and platform supervision use different identities and network paths. Verify the required path and block unused ones. The guide says HTTPS is always available but the device initially lacks a trusted certificate, and it documents a default algo web password. Replace defaults, restrict management reachability and validate certificate trust rather than treating HTTPS, TLS or SRTP labels as proof of protection.
Record the exact firmware, approved configuration, switch port, VLAN, SIP server, multicast zones and supervision owner. Test reboot, loss and restoration of PoE, network, PBX and management services. No intercom, PBX, door hardware, relay, sensor, PoE path, weather assembly, audio, multicast, API, certificate, supervision, availability, price or emergency workflow was tested for this guide.
