Use the exact dry-page interface

The 8301 is designed to feed one traditional amplifier through an isolated balanced line output. Algo documents a configurable 600 ohm to 10 kilohm input-impedance range and an optional dry contact closure to activate the amplifier. It does not provide an FXS port, talk battery or a power-amplified speaker output.

Confirm the amplifier's input type, nominal level, impedance, connector and closure behavior from its own manual. For multiple independent amplifiers or retained zone switching, the current Algo comparison points to other interface models or one 8301 per amplifier; do not infer multi-amplifier control from the number of SIP or multicast zones.

Keep registration, multicast and audio output separate

The manufacturer lists SIP extensions, RTP multicast send and receive, and simultaneous line-output and multicast audio. Treat each as its own acceptance path. Record the exact SIP identity and transport, multicast groups and priorities, output level, closure timing and every receiver or amplifier zone.

The page lists G.711 µ-law, G.711 A-law and G.722 for SIP and adds Opus for multicast. A supported codec is not proof of negotiated or intelligible audio. Capture the selected profile and test the room at operational noise levels without using a real emergency message.

Scope scheduler, stored media and inputs

The 8301 can schedule bells, tones and announcements, store audio, accept a dry contact input and interrupt background music for calls or scheduled events. Document the owner of schedules and media, NTP source, time zone, exception dates, priority order, input wiring and rollback. A contact closure or stored file can initiate one workflow but does not prove delivery across the amplifier and speaker plant.

The microphone path requires the documented accessory and appropriate external equipment. Treat talkback and all connected microphones as separate privacy and acoustic decisions; the existence of an input must not silently turn a one-way paging deployment into a listening endpoint.

Validate management and protected media claims

Algo documents web and server provisioning, TLS for SIP signaling, SRTP, mutual authentication, 802.1X, IPv4 and IPv6, VLANs and secondary or tertiary SIP servers. These controls require version-appropriate configuration and certificate validation. TLS signaling does not establish SRTP media, 802.1X admission or secure file delivery.

Pilot the exact purchased unit and firmware with the chosen PBX or UC service, PoE switch, multicast design and amplifier. Test unauthorized call rejection, configuration access, page start and termination, priority, analog level, reboot and failure recovery. No device, amplifier, speaker, PBX, multicast, schedule, protected-media or emergency behavior was tested for this guide.

Use firmware-aware smart-relay buttons as accessories

Algo firmware 5.7 added documented 1211 and 1212 input support and 1202 supervision to compatible endpoint input/output settings. These buttons remain accessories to the 8301 rather than independent SIP or PoE endpoints. Record the exact host firmware, relay wiring, input action and supervised fault behavior, then verify the complete call, multicast or integration result.
