Algo 8211 IP Single Button

Evaluate the 8211 as a standalone PoE button with separate press and long-press actions, outbound prerecorded SIP audio, multicast, API and supervision boundaries.

SpecificationDocumented value
Button actionsOne normal-press and one configurable long-press action; the hold threshold is configurable Source ↗
Available action familiesMulticast a stored tone or announcement, make an outbound SIP call with stored audio, start an InformaCast scenario, send API requests, send an SNMP trap or cancel an active action Source ↗
SIP roleOne SIP extension for outbound calls with prerecorded audio; this is not evidence of a two-way intercom or arbitrary live speech Source ↗
Multicast roleTransmit to 50 documented RTP multicast zones using stored audio; the button does not play the tone locally Source ↗

FeedbackConfigurable blue, red, green or amber LED ring with brightness and flash patterns for idle, ringing, active, non-SIP activated and failed-call states Source ↗
Provisioning and protectionWeb or server provisioning, HTTPS, TLS, SRTP and mutual authentication are listed controls; loaded configuration and end-to-end protection remain separate evidence Source ↗

Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.

Keep the 8211 separate from the 1211 accessory

The 8211 is a standalone network endpoint with its own PoE connection, SIP registration, management surface and monitoring state. The similarly shaped 1211 is a smart-relay accessory that requires a compatible Algo IP endpoint. Capture the exact model label, power path, network port and configuration owner before installation.

A family photograph, selectable faceplate or product name is not enough to identify the architecture. Do not provision a host extension for the 1211 or plan relay wiring for an 8211.

Assign one clear press and one deliberate long press

The normal press and configurable long press can trigger different actions. Record the hold threshold, label text, LED behavior, cover, cancel method and expected user population. Avoid hiding an urgent action behind a timing gesture that users cannot perform reliably, and do not use a long press as a substitute for authorization or responder confirmation.

Stage short, borderline and full-duration presses, repeated presses, accidental activation and cancel behavior. The configured two-action capacity does not prove that both choices remain understandable under stress.

Understand the prerecorded-audio calling boundary

The published SIP role is one extension for outbound calls with prerecorded audio. Algo's guide requires the call to be established before the selected tone or announcement is heard at the destination. This is not a handset, microphone path or general two-way intercom claim.

Validate registration, dial string, route, called endpoint, answer behavior, stored file, negotiated media, timeout, busy and no-answer cases. The LED can represent call setup, active call or an alarm pattern, but a press indication alone does not prove that the far end answered or heard the file.

Validate multicast and integrations independently

A Play Tone action transmits stored audio to configured multicast receivers; the 8211 itself does not reproduce that tone. InformaCast, HTTP or HTTPS API and SNMP actions have separate credentials and targets. Preserve the zone, priority, receiver set, scenario ID, request target, authentication and management destination for the selected workflow.

Test one authorized and one rejected action for each deployed path, plus network and target failure. An accepted request or emitted trap is not proof that the final audience received, understood or acted on an alert.

Commission supervision, security and failure handling

Algo documents ADMP, 8300 controller, SNMP and RTCP supervision choices plus TLS, SRTP, mutual authentication, HTTPS provisioning and 802.1X capabilities. Assign one authoritative provisioning source, replace default access, restrict management reachability, validate certificates and record the loaded firmware and configuration.

The product is for dry indoor locations and is network- and power-dependent. Test PoE loss, switch restart, registration loss, DNS and time failure, alternate SIP server, target rejection, stale monitoring and restoration. Follow an approved emergency-test procedure; no button, call, alert, monitoring result, availability or compatibility was tested for this reference.
