Model inbound and outbound as separate provider relationships
Record the account, DID, inbound trunk group, customer destination, outbound trunk group, authentication method, service hostname, caller identity and PBX objects for each direction. Bulk Solutions publishes workflows where inbound delivery uses an IP-authenticated destination while outbound calls use registration credentials. That is evidence that the directions can have different owners, not a guarantee that every account or PBX should copy the same combination.
A successful outbound call proves neither DID assignment nor inbound destination reachability. An inbound INVITE proves neither outbound authorization nor the caller identity accepted for termination.
Documented service facts
Reviewed 2026-10-18. Compare SIP trunk services →
Outbound authentication
DocumentedOutbound source-IP authentication uses portal host entries and the translated public source address. Credential mode uses a trunk-group username and password for digest authentication. Current first-party examples show that inbound and outbound directions can use different identity owners.
SIP registration
DocumentedCredential workflows can use registration against sip.bulkvs.com, while IP-authenticated paths do not use REGISTER as their health signal. The current registration guide notes that some accounts can require active registration before digest INVITEs are accepted; verify REGISTER, challenge and call independently.
Inbound delivery
DocumentedA DID is assigned to an inbound trunk group and IP delivery targets the configured customer address or supported hostname. The provider documents 11-digit request-URI delivery by default. DID assignment, destination reachability, PBX identification, route match and media remain separate evidence.
Inbound failover
Not verifiedBulk Solutions recommends its service hostname and publishes provider-network redundancy claims, but the reviewed setup material does not establish multiple customer inbound destinations, their priority or advance triggers. Provider infrastructure diversity is not PBX, access-circuit or active-call failover.
Number and regional availability
Not verifiedThe provider markets US and Canadian origination, North American 1+ termination and toll-free routing. Exact rate-centre inventory, porting eligibility, documents, activation, caller identity and route availability vary by number, account and date and require confirmation before migration.
Audio codecs
DocumentedThe setup guides list G.711 mu-law and G.729a and document RFC 2833 DTMF, with in-band DTMF also described for G.711 mu-law. Preserve the PBX allow list and inspect actual SDP because a published codec does not establish every downstream carrier path.
T.38 fax
Not verifiedThe provider describes T.38 pass-through where available. That conditional statement is not an end-to-end fax guarantee; pilot each number, direction, endpoint, page count, renegotiation and audio-fallback case.
Signaling and media encryption
Not verifiedThe reviewed public setup material documents UDP or TCP signaling on port 5060, but it does not establish a customer TLS and SRTP workflow. Source-IP authentication controls identity and STIR/SHAKEN concerns caller identity; neither should be represented as signaling or media encryption.
Call-start capacity
Not verifiedPublic product language describes usage-based service without a channel charge, but it does not establish the live account's calls per second, concurrent calls, burst behavior or rejection response. Confirm call-start and active-call limits separately in writing and in a controlled pilot.
Emergency calling
DocumentedBulk Solutions documents E911 for the United States and Canada, 911@sip.bulkvs.com for emergency calls and 922@sip.bulkvs.com for verifying the caller number and database address. The outbound IP-authentication guide requires the provisioned caller number in 10-digit, 11-digit or +1 E.164 form and says other formats are rejected. Exact DID activation, address validation, caller identity, local testing authorization, dispatch result, callback and notification delivery remain account- and location-specific acceptance work.
Pricing model
Not verifiedBulk Solutions publishes usage-oriented product and price examples. Exact rates, increments, number charges, emergency and messaging fees, taxes, surcharges, minimums, support and contract terms require the current portal or a dated quote rather than a copied marketing figure.
Administration and support
DocumentedCurrent integration pages distinguish inbound trunk-group ownership, outbound source-IP or credential identity, service-hostname resolution and per-call ladder evidence. The public FreePBX PDF identifies FreePBX 14.0.4.5 and chan_sip and is legacy context, not a current FreePBX 17 PJSIP template.
SMS and MMS
Not verifiedThe provider markets SMS and MMS and documents a campaign requirement for outbound messaging. Number eligibility, campaign approval, registration, geography, throughput, API behavior, retention and pricing remain separate from voice and must be verified for the selected account and numbers.
Treat source-IP authorization and registration as different controls
For IP-authenticated outbound calling, preserve the portal host entry, translated public source address, propagation time and request sent to the provider service hostname. For credential mode, preserve the trunk-group username, challenge, authenticated retry and any required registration state without exposing the secret.
The current registration workflow notes that some accounts can require an active registration before digest-authenticated INVITEs are accepted. Keep REGISTER, an OPTIONS-style connection test, INVITE challenge and completed call as separate evidence; none substitutes for the others.
Trace inbound delivery from DID assignment to the first PBX match
Confirm the DID is assigned to the intended inbound trunk group and retain the exact provider destination. Bulk Solutions documents 11-digit request-URI delivery by default for the IP path. Capture the INVITE and compare its source, destination, Request-URI, To and asserted identity with the loaded Asterisk endpoint identification, context and first FreePBX inbound-route match.
Do not enable anonymous SIP as a discovery shortcut or trust every packet that presents the DID. Restrict the signaling boundary to the current provider sources and prove the request was matched by the intended trunk object.
Use the provider hostname without flattening DNS and firewall evidence
Bulk Solutions recommends sip.bulkvs.com and publishes SRV-oriented redundancy guidance. Preserve the query type, current answers, TTL, chosen target, transport, provider source and customer-edge receipt. A hostname in configuration does not prove the resolver returned every current target or that the firewall admits the source used for one call.
Provider-network diversity is not a customer failover contract. The reviewed material does not establish one universal set of customer-destination priorities, advancement responses, timers, retry counts, restoration intervals or established-call survival behavior.
Keep the legacy FreePBX template inside its version boundary
The public Bulk Solutions PDF identifies FreePBX 14.0.4.5 and configures a chan_sip trunk. Preserve it only as provider terminology and legacy screen context. Do not copy its driver, fields, ports, dial strings or trust settings into FreePBX 17 PJSIP without mapping them to the installed release and current generated objects.
On FreePBX 17, make durable changes through the supported trunk, Asterisk SIP Settings and inbound or outbound route owners. Then inspect generated and loaded PJSIP endpoint, identify, AOR, registration and transport state before testing a call.
Accept voice, media and emergency paths independently
For one authorized inbound and outbound voice call, retain the first provider attempt, PBX route, SIP response, negotiated SDP, RTP direction, decoded audio and hangup. The published codec or DTMF list does not establish every downstream route, and an answered call does not prove two-way media.
Keep 911 routing and caller identity outside the general voice acceptance result. Use the Bulk Solutions emergency diagnostic and the documented 922 verification path before any authorized live test. No availability, compatibility, capacity, pricing or laboratory result is claimed.
Diagnose the inbound path without changing working outbound identity
Use the Bulk Solutions inbound diagnostic to trace DID assignment, trunk group, destination, edge receipt, PJSIP identification, route and media.
