Identify the country account, line and ordered service
peoplefone operates country-specific account contexts and presents SIP lines, SIP-TRUNK, hosted PBX, app, fax, Teams and other services as adjacent offerings. Record the legal account, country, ordered line type, numbers, PBX or SBC, locations, access, support path and current portal values. This profile is scoped to the reviewed Swiss trunk material; it is not a promise that another country uses identical routing, emergency or commercial rules.
A generic claim that a VoIP-capable PBX can connect is not certification of an exact release, module set or deployment. The published certified-PBX list contains dated software versions, so retain the exact platform and the provider or vendor evidence that applies to it.
Documented service facts
Reviewed 2026-10-11. Compare SIP trunk services →
SIP authentication
Documentedpeoplefone documents a SIP proxy, SIP username and SIP password for each SIP line, and explicitly separates those credentials from the customer-account login. Record the selected Swiss account, SIP line, proxy, user and challenge without exposing the secret. A portal login or visible line is not evidence that the PBX authenticated.
SIP registration
DocumentedThe reviewed guidance uses registration and recommends a 180–300 second re-registration interval during connection troubleshooting. It says as many as five devices can register to one SIP line but recommends one device per line. Those are service inputs, not proof of the selected line contact set, expiry, reachability or completed calls.
Inbound delivery and number format
DocumentedThe Swiss support page says the SIP-TRUNK line type must be enabled for PBX-oriented inbound SIP information and supports international E.164 and national Swiss number forms. Number blocks or individual numbers can be assigned to SIP lines. Preserve the actual Request-URI, identity headers, portal assignment, PBX match and final destination.
Inbound resilience
Documentedpeoplefone documents provider-side forwarding when a line becomes offline after a recommended 180-second re-register period, with exact-number or prefix filters and a stated maximum of 300 forwardings per SIP line. That does not prove detection time, active-call survival, alternate capacity, caller identity or restoration behavior for an account. Test new-call failure and recovery separately.
Number and regional availability
Not verifiedThe reviewed page describes Swiss national and E.164 formats and country-specific account contexts, but it does not prove inventory, portability, regulatory eligibility or activation timing for a requested number and service address. Obtain a dated order or port result for the exact location and number block.
Audio codecs and DTMF
Documentedpeoplefone lists PCMA, PCMU, G.722 and G.729a and explains that both endpoints must negotiate a shared codec. The reviewed public sources do not establish one DTMF mode, telephone-event payload or packetization requirement for every trunk. Retain offer and answer SDP, RTP endpoints, decoded audio and digit evidence for each call leg.
Fax and T.38
Not verifiedThe reviewed trunk, network and firewall pages do not establish T.38 entitlement, audio-fax policy, supported gateways or document limits for the selected Swiss SIP trunk. Qualify fax separately and preserve signaling, media mode, page result and failure reason rather than inferring fax support from ordinary voice service.
Signaling and media encryption
Documentedpeoplefone documents TLS signaling when the device selects it and SRTP only after both device configuration and provider activation on the SIP line. It warns that encryption is scoped to peoplefone-to-peoplefone calls and may not continue to another carrier. Verify certificate validation, negotiated transport, SDP keying and protected packets independently.
Concurrent calls and call-start rate
Not verifiedThe public support page says its basic SIP-line configuration is not limited for incoming or outgoing conversations, but this does not establish an ordered concurrency entitlement, access bandwidth, PBX capacity, fair-use control or calls-per-second allowance. Obtain written account limits and run only an approved bounded load test.
Emergency calling
DocumentedFor Switzerland, peoplefone requires verified location data assigned to the relevant SIP line and number and says emergency numbers are guaranteed only within the respective country. Its current Slovakia notice separately documents registered-address dependence and loss of emergency calling during power or Internet failure. Confirm the rules, address, callback identity and approved validation method for the actual country; do not place an uncoordinated emergency call.
Pricing and contract
Not verifiedThe reviewed technical pages do not establish current setup, number, porting, channel, call, forwarding, support, tax or cancellation charges for a selected order. Obtain a dated quote, rate card, service schedule and accepted terms rather than treating technical availability as a price or entitlement.
Administration and support
DocumentedThe portal controls SIP-line type, credentials, number assignment, displayed number, emergency address and forwarding. peoplefone also publishes firewall ranges and a dated certified-PBX list. A listed family or software version is not certification of a newer release, module set or customer design; retain the exact support entitlement and tested versions.
SMS and MMS
Not verifiedThe reviewed voice-trunk sources do not establish SMS or MMS eligibility, sender registration, API behavior, throughput, retention or pricing for a trunk number. Qualify messaging as a separate service and compliance path.
Keep portal login, SIP credentials and registration separate
Each SIP line has its own proxy, SIP username and SIP password, distinct from the customer-account login. Preserve the proxy and DNS result, transport, user, authentication identity, Contact, expiry, challenge and response without copying secrets into a ticket. Record every authorized registering device and the provider contact set.
peoplefone allows several registrations but recommends one device per line. Multiple contacts may therefore be permitted, yet they can alter call forking and failure behavior. A successful REGISTER proves a contact transaction, not SIP-TRUNK activation, number assignment, inbound delivery, outbound identity, media or emergency routing.
Prove trunk activation, number routing and identity
The SIP-TRUNK line type is a portal control for PBX-oriented inbound information. Number blocks or individual numbers are then assigned to a SIP line, and displayed-number or CLI Open controls govern a separate outbound identity path. Record each layer independently.
For inbound calls, retain the called number as delivered, Request-URI, identity headers, selected PBX route and destination. For outbound calls, retain the authorized presented identity, privacy handling and carrier response. Ownership of a number, inbound assignment and permission to present it are not interchangeable.
Resolve media, firewall and protection on the call
The network guidance publishes PCMA, PCMU, G.722 and G.729a, while the firewall page lists Swiss signaling and media inputs and recommends limiting rules to peoplefone. Apply current provider values to the selected account and validate the actual SIP and RTP tuple. Preserve SDP, codec, DTMF representation, RTP directions, packet loss and decoded audio.
TLS signaling and SRTP media remain separate. SRTP requires provider activation on the SIP line as well as device policy, and peoplefone limits its encryption statement to calls that remain within its network. A TLS port, a configured SRTP switch or a lock icon is not proof of certificate validation, media keying or end-to-end protection.
Treat fallback forwarding as a new-call path
peoplefone documents an offline role that can forward exact numbers or prefixes after the SIP line becomes offline. Map the registration timer, provider state, filter, alternate destination, number presentation, call cost, capacity and recovery path. Do not represent this as survival of an established call or preservation of PBX features.
In an approved exercise, observe loss detection, one new inbound call through the alternate path, restoration, return to primary and a nearby number that should not match the filter. Keep provider forwarding, access diversity, PBX redundancy and endpoint failover as separate controls.
Accept emergency, commercial and support boundaries
For Switzerland, verified location information must be associated with the relevant SIP line and number, and country boundaries remain explicit. Confirm the service address, callback number, nomadic-use rule, power and Internet dependencies, accessible alternative and provider-approved validation process at every site. Do not place an uncoordinated emergency call.
Before acceptance, obtain current number availability, port result, capacity and CPS terms, fax position, quote, rates, taxes, support entitlement and escalation path. Test registration, inbound and outbound calls, identity, audio, DTMF, protection, fallback and rollback on the exact approved PBX release. No such account or call was tested for this guide.
Diagnose fallback that never takes the new call
When an offline SIP line does not forward a new inbound call, use the peoplefone fallback diagnostic. It separates PBX registration loss, provider offline state, rule ownership, exact or prefix matching, the alternate call leg and restoration.
