Documented specifications
Mitel · Mitel retained 6920w installation, quick-reference and user documentation in its live 6900 SIP Phones document center, including a 6.7.0 documentation lane at review. That does not establish regional stock, installed software, support term or call-manager approval.
| Specification | Documented value |
|---|---|
| Display | 3.5-inch 320 × 240 QVGA color TFT Source ↗ |
| Programmable controls | Six top programmable softkeys supporting up to 20 functions and four context-sensitive bottom softkeys supporting up to 18 functions; function layers are not extra physical buttons, SIP identities or simultaneous calls Source ↗ |
| Wired network | Two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports; the 6920w guide also identifies IEEE 802.3az energy-efficient Ethernet Source ↗ |
| Wireless | Embedded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2 on the 6920w; the non-w 6920 must not inherit those radio claims Source ↗ |
| PoE | IEEE 802.3af/at; the 6920w is documented as PoE class 3 and can change to class 4 when supported programmable-key modules are connected Source ↗ |
| Accessory power | A sidecar arrangement can require a 48 V power adapter; connector presence is not proof that an adapter or module is included Source ↗ |
| Software and platform | Mitel publishes separate SIP documentation while its administrator guide describes a MiNet-to-SIP software boundary; exact installed software and call-manager approval remain authoritative Source ↗ |
| Current documentation lane | Mitel's live document center exposed 6920 and 6920w material under release 6.7.0 at review; this is not evidence that a particular phone runs or should install that release Source ↗ |
Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.
Confirm 6920w rather than transferring 6920w features to 6920
Mitel describes the 6920w as physically identical to the 6920 while adding embedded Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2 and energy-efficient Ethernet. Similar appearance does not make the model labels interchangeable. Capture the exact rear or regulatory label, ports, package and installed software before procurement, provisioning or troubleshooting.
Treat every radio, accessory and power statement as exact-model evidence. A reseller title, saved configuration or screen photograph without the model label is insufficient when the w and non-w variants have materially different network options.
Establish SIP software and call-manager ownership
Mitel's administrator guide explains that a 6900 phone can have a MiNet software state and require the correct SIP software path for a SIP deployment. Do not assume that power-on, a familiar menu or a 6900-family label proves the required software, and do not load an image merely because it appears in a newer document lane.
Record installed software, current call manager, configuration owner, approved target, provisioning source, credentials, certificates, backup and rollback. The current document center establishes available references, not a universal conversion, downgrade or upgrade procedure.
Do not turn softkey function counts into call capacity
The guides describe six top programmable softkeys supporting up to 20 functions and four context-sensitive bottom softkeys supporting up to 18 functions. Those numbers concern assignments and context layers, not 38 physical keys, 38 SIP identities, 38 active calls or a measured call-start rate.
Map the actual user workflow and visible states on the intended call manager. Test page or context changes, line selection, hold, transfer, conference, voicemail and monitored indicators after provisioning and again after an update.
Commission Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth separately
The 6920w provides two Gigabit Ethernet ports and embedded Wi-Fi, while Bluetooth 5.2 supports local pairing rather than network registration. Choose one commissioned network path at a time and retain its VLAN, authentication, DHCP, DNS, time, signaling, media and recovery evidence.
For Wi-Fi, validate coverage, contention, roaming expectations and restart behavior at the intended desk. For Bluetooth, record the exact paired accessory or mobile workflow and test answer, end, mute, volume, reconnection and reassignment cleanup. Link, association or pairing icons do not prove a usable call.
Budget PoE and expansion power by the final assembly
Mitel documents the 6920w as PoE class 3 and says supported programmable-key modules can move it to class 4. The guide also calls out a 48 V adapter requirement for a sidecar arrangement. Size the switch, UPS and local power plan for the final phone-plus-accessory assembly rather than the bare phone.
Confirm the exact module, quantity, cable, adapter and regional package. Test cold start, restart, key-state restoration and call control with all intended accessories connected; a labelling or connector match is not compatibility evidence.
Keep MiVoice training topics within their platform boundary
Mitel's 6920w learning center is explicitly for MiVoice 5000 and covers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MobileLink, PC Link, transfers and conferences in that context. Use it to understand that named workflow, not to claim universal behavior on another SIP service.
For any required integration, retain the call manager, license, server configuration, client version and exact acceptance result. A menu item can be hidden, renamed or server-dependent, and local conferencing is not interchangeable with a hosted bridge.
Pilot calls, failure recovery and location evidence
On an authorized service, test clean provisioning, restart, registration, inbound and outbound calls, caller identity, mute, hold, blind and attended transfer, voicemail indication, programmed keys, headset, speaker, selected network path, power interruption and update recovery. Correlate phone state with call-manager and provider evidence.
Preserve the assigned number, physical location and provider-approved emergency validation process without an uncoordinated live emergency call. No 6920w, package, software image, call manager, switch, WLAN, radio, accessory, power source, provisioning service, account, protected session, emergency route, availability, compatibility, price, audio result or live call was inspected or tested for this reference.
