Keep the calling account on the host

Speak2 75 is documented as a softphone and mobile-phone peripheral, not a standalone SIP endpoint; Jabra's support page explicitly marks desk-phone compatibility as unavailable. A computer, tablet or mobile phone supplies the account, signaling, contacts, application and network path. Record the exact host, operating system, application build, selected input and output and account owner. Do not infer a registrar, dial plan, emergency route or independent telephone service from its call-control buttons.

Test speaker and microphone selection, incoming and outgoing calls, answer and end, mute synchronization, hold, DTMF if required, device switching, sleep and wake and reconnection in the approved application. A successful music stream, USB enumeration or Bluetooth pairing does not prove two-way call behavior.

Preserve the exact MS or UC and adapter variant

Jabra lists Microsoft Teams and UC variants, with Link 390 USB-A, Link 390 USB-C or no adapter depending on the SKU. The integrated cable uses USB-C and includes a USB-A adapter, while the Link 390 is a separate wireless computer path in applicable packages. Record the full order code, connector, included adapter and whether the host uses direct USB, Link 390 or native Bluetooth.

Treat platform certification and a dedicated Teams control as variant- and application-specific. They do not establish universal behavior across every operating system, browser, softphone or meeting service. Preserve each tested host path separately so a working direct cable does not silently stand in for an adapter or native-radio deployment.

Control paired hosts and shared-room privacy

The specification lists up to eight paired devices and two simultaneous Bluetooth connections. Jabra's linking FAQ adds an important capacity boundary: if two Bluetooth devices are already connected, linking a second Speak2 75 replaces the last connected Bluetooth device. Inventory paired hosts, restrict who may initiate pairing, clear former users before reassignment and test which input and output the application selects after reconnect.

Treat native mobile Bluetooth, the Link 390 computer connection and direct USB as different trust and support paths. Decide whether Jabra Direct, Jabra Sound+ or Jabra Xpress is permitted, who owns firmware and settings and what inventory or diagnostic data may leave the room. A visible connection does not prove that a nearby personal phone cannot become the unintended media source.

Treat a linked pair as one firmware-sensitive audio system

Jabra documents two-unit linking from firmware 2.46.0. Both units are placed within 50 cm and their Smart buttons are pressed to establish the link; the relationship persists until unlink or reset. This creates one linked audio arrangement, not two registered phones or meeting identities. Record primary and secondary serials, firmware, placement, host relationship and what happens when either unit sleeps, loses power or is reset.

Keep both units on an approved release and repeat acceptance after an update. Release 2.54.0 changed low-battery audio behavior, introduced soft-start volume behavior and added deep sleep for newly manufactured devices, so a linked pair with different state or firmware can behave differently from a prior pilot. Validate every seat, simultaneous speech, mute indication, echo, low-battery behavior and recovery with a remote listener.

Bound battery, ingress and room claims

Published talk time, charge time, 30 m wireless range, microphone design and full-duplex claims are manufacturer specifications, not an installed-room result. Assign the cable or charger, storage location, charging routine and replacement owner. IP64 applies to the main unit, while Jabra separately warns against moisture on the cable and plug; do not treat that rating as outdoor, wash-down or unattended life-safety suitability.

Run a reproducible matrix across direct USB and approved wireless paths, quiet and loud talkers, overlapping speech, host sleep, cable or adapter removal, low battery, update and reset. Confirm a separate calling fallback for critical work. No device, host, adapter, application, certification, room coverage, radio range, battery endurance, ingress protection, firmware, audio quality, availability, price, emergency route or live-call behavior was tested for this guide.
