Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.

Keep the host and application as the call owner

SP96 is documented as a USB and Bluetooth speakerphone, not a standalone SIP endpoint. A computer, tablet or mobile phone supplies the account, signaling, meeting or softphone application, network path and emergency behavior. Record the host, operating system, application build, selected audio device and account owner. Do not infer a registrar, independent dial plan or direct emergency route from its call controls or display.

Yealink's broad platform-compatibility statement is a selection claim rather than an accepted matrix for every operating system, browser, softphone and meeting service. Test input and output selection, notifications, answer and end, mute synchronization, volume, DTMF if required, host sleep and wake and reconnection in the exact application.

Distinguish the two order codes and three connection paths

The current exact specifications list order code 1308171 as SP96 USB-C/A and 1308173 as SP96 with Dongle USB-C/A. The datasheet lists the BT51C dongle as optional while including a USB C/A adapter. Preserve the ordered code, carton contents, connector, cable, adapter identity and approved host ports; do not treat an optional adapter as included in every box.

Direct USB, native host Bluetooth and the BT51C path have different radio, driver, pairing and recovery owners. Prove every allowed path after cold start, host restart, sleep, cable or adapter removal and application update. A successful music stream or pairing message is not evidence of two-way calling or application controls.

Control pairing and cloud management in shared rooms

Yealink lists two simultaneous Bluetooth connections and storage for as many as eight paired devices. In a shared room, define who may pair, inspect and clear remembered hosts and prevent a former user's phone from becoming an unintended microphone, loudspeaker or media source. Test the handoff when two devices are connected and document which host owns call controls.

The datasheet lists local Yealink USB Connect management and the Yealink Management Cloud Service. Cloud enrollment is a separate architecture with administrator, tenant, network, inventory, update, diagnostic-data and revocation questions. Confirm the exact SP96 firmware and supported-device record before using either management path, and do not convert platform availability into deployed control.

Treat the two-unit link as one room-audio design

The manufacturer lists a wireless daisy chain for up to two SP96 devices. That link does not create two phone accounts, two meeting identities or independent SIP endpoints. Record both device identities, placement, primary host path, connection and control behavior, and what happens when either unit powers off, unlinks or moves out of range.

The six microphones, five-metre pickup distance, 65 mm speaker, full-duplex, echo-cancellation and noise-reduction statements are manufacturer specifications, not an installed-room result. Validate every seat, quiet and loud talkers, overlapping speech, remote intelligibility, mute indication, echo and recovery with the intended table, reflections and background noise.

Bound battery, radio and lifecycle claims

Published battery, standby and 30 m radio figures come from controlled product documentation and do not establish aged-battery endurance, charging time, a congested room or wall penetration. Assign the cable or charger, storage location, charging routine and replacement owner. The reviewed exact pages do not establish an ingress-protection rating or operating-temperature envelope, so do not infer outdoor or wash-down suitability.

Preserve the installed firmware and settings before an update and retain an approved recovery and calling fallback. Test low battery, charging during a call, paired-host removal, adapter loss, firmware update and factory reset. No device, host, adapter, application, management service, platform compatibility, room coverage, radio range, battery endurance, firmware, audio quality, availability, price, emergency route or live-call behavior was tested for this guide.
