Grandstream · Grandstream's current GRP26xx guides classify GRP2612 and GRP2612P as legacy models discontinued after 2020 and list GRP2612W as current supported hardware. The grouped product and firmware pages also cover GRP2612G and later hardware revisions; lifecycle, firmware eligibility and availability must be resolved from the exact variant, part number and hardware revision.

Identify the variant before comparing features
Grandstream groups GRP2612, GRP2612P, GRP2612W and GRP2612G on one product page, but the interfaces differ. The base model lacks integrated PoE, the P adds PoE, the W adds PoE and Wi-Fi, and the G has Gigabit Ethernet. The current product page limits Wi-Fi 6 to GRP2612W hardware version 5.0 and later.
Record the complete chassis label, part number and hardware revision. Do not infer power, Ethernet speed or radio capability from a family photograph, a reseller title or another suffix. Four line keys also do not prove four usable identities on every historical hardware and firmware combination.
Separate lifecycle from a still-live product page
Grandstream's current GRP26xx user and administration guides classify GRP2612 and GRP2612P among legacy models discontinued after 2020, while listing GRP2612W as current supported hardware. The grouped product page and firmware table continue to mention GRP2612G and later hardware revisions. These records answer different questions and leave the G variant's current commercial status unresolved.
A downloadable datasheet or firmware image does not establish current availability, remaining support or a recommended new purchase. For an installed fleet, retain order records, exact labels and support correspondence. For a new order, obtain current availability, warranty and support terms tied to the exact suffix and hardware revision.
Keep legacy and non-legacy firmware lanes apart
The firmware directory lists 1.0.13.127 as the general release for the reviewed GRP261x legacy and non-legacy lanes. Grandstream identifies hardware revision 1.x by the part-number pattern on the rear label and states that the 1.0.15.x branch does not apply to those legacy devices. A higher version number is therefore not evidence that it is valid for every phone bearing the family name.
At review, 1.0.15.19 was beta. The beta notes require transition firmware 2.0.15.0 for a move from 1.0.13.x or 1.0.11.x and warn administrators to preserve a backup before an eventual downgrade. General, beta, transition and legacy-supported images remain separate lanes; confirm the current firmware table again immediately before change.
Treat provisioning as an owned control plane
The product page lists Grandstream Device Management System support, while the guides also expose local administration and provisioning controls. Establish who owns the GDMS tenant, device administrator credentials, configuration source, certificates and firmware policy before connecting reused hardware. A successful cloud assignment, downloaded configuration, SIP registration and accepted call are separate checkpoints.
Before a fleet change, export an authorized backup, retain the previous known-good configuration and define the supported recovery path. Pilot one exact hardware revision first. Verify power, network link, VLAN, provisioning, registration, inbound and outbound calling, hold, blind and attended transfer, message indication, busy-lamp state, digit delivery and recovery after reboot.
Keep documented capability separate from acceptance
The official sources list codec, TLS, SRTP, headset, hot-desking and failover capabilities across the GRP261x family. They do not prove the PBX or provider configuration, certificate validation, negotiated media, accessory compatibility, radio performance, audible quality or user workflow for one deployment.
No phone, hardware revision, power supply, switch port, WLAN, accessory, provisioning tenant, firmware transition, PBX, protected session, price, availability, compatibility or call was inspected or tested for this refresh. Preserve exact-model and exact-revision evidence and retest the operational workflow after every managed change.
