Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.
Treat the module as part of the host phone
The GBX20 adds a display and programmable keys to a compatible Grandstream phone. It does not establish a separate SIP identity, line capacity or PBX feature set. Inventory the host model, hardware revision, firmware, service platform, module serial and intended key assignments as one workstation record.
The current product page and datasheet list six compatible host models. The reviewed installation guide documents only the GRP2615, GRP2624 and GXV3350 setup paths. That difference can reflect a newer support list rather than an error, but it does not prove that an older guide's menus, cable or power instructions transfer unchanged to every later host. Obtain the current host-specific support record before installation.
Count visible assignments and page changes separately
Each module has 20 programmable keys on each of two pages, so the advertised 40 assignments are not 40 simultaneously visible physical keys. Up to four modules yields the manufacturer's headline maximum of 160 contacts or extensions. Record how many colleagues or actions must be visible at once, whether page switching is acceptable and how labels remain intelligible.
Do not equate a contact, extension, line appearance, SIP account or simultaneous call. Map every requested BLF, shared appearance, park, pickup, speed dial, intercom, conference, transfer or forward action to the PBX or hosted service feature that supplies it.
Validate power and mechanics for the installed count
The datasheet says one GBX20 can be powered by the documented host and requires the included 12 V supply when two or more are connected. The quick guide likewise says the second module needs a 12 V, 1 A supply. Confirm the exact host's current rule, its PoE class or local adapter, the module supply and the total switch budget; do not use a measured idle figure as a guaranteed maximum.
Use the supplied connector plate, screw, stand and USB cable as documented. Check desk depth, stability, cable strain, page-key reach and display angle with the user's headset and normal applications in place. A successful boot does not establish safe mechanical support or sufficient power during calls, ringing and firmware change.
Keep configuration and firmware ownership explicit
The module is configured through the host phone. The quick guide gives web-interface paths for the three hosts it names; the datasheet says module firmware is obtained through the host's network connection and upgrade setup. Record which system owns host provisioning, module key configuration and firmware, and preserve the known-good host and module versions together.
The reviewed release notes identify GBX20 1.0.1.12 and changes involving GRP261x font size, low-MTU web access, certificate-validated HTTPS upgrades and BLF indication. Do not treat that dated note as proof of the latest approved image, nor upgrade during boot. Validate the current supported pairing and rollback procedure before change.
Test key state and call recovery end to end
For each assignment, prove idle, ringing, active and unavailable indications where relevant, then press the key and confirm the intended PBX action. Test attended transfer, a failed transfer, park and retrieval, pickup authorization, a busy colleague, a forwarded colleague, page switching and restart. Preserve caller state and recovery steps when the target does not answer.
Include an unauthorized extension and an out-of-scope call as negative tests. BLF color or presence text alone does not prove pickup permission, routing, privacy or service availability. Emergency calling belongs to the host phone and calling service workflow; a programmable emergency key is not a substitute for the approved dialing path and callback-location test.
Use a bounded workstation acceptance record
Record host model and firmware, module firmware and count, connection order, module power, switch port and PoE state, provisioning owner, page layout, feature codes, monitored identities, operator, test calls, failure behavior and rollback. Repeat the required actions after a reboot and provisioning refresh.
No GBX20, host phone, PBX, calling platform, programmable key, BLF subscription, pickup right, transfer, power path, firmware transition, emergency workflow, availability, price or support period was tested for this guide.
Keep the GRP2670 host pairing current
The current GBX20 datasheet explicitly includes the GRP2670 among its compatible hosts. That listing is a candidate pairing, not proof that the installed host firmware, module firmware, connector chain, power arrangement, key roles or PBX behaviors have passed acceptance.
Keep the GRP2624 host and GBX20 workstation exact
The GRP2624 reference documents up to four GBX20 modules and 160 programmed contacts. Host label, firmware, module count, power, connector chain, key map and PBX state remain one acceptance set; contacts are not extra lines or accounts.
