Choose the installed form before the network feature set
A flush ceiling speaker, surface speaker, pendant speaker and outdoor horn solve different mounting and dispersion problems. Confirm ceiling construction, support method, plenum or air-handling requirements, moisture exposure, service access, cable route and local fire and building rules before selecting the endpoint. A product's listed compliance does not replace approval of the complete installation.
Algo describes the 8198 as an indoor ceiling model. Keep dry-indoor, temperature and mounting limits attached to the exact model rather than extending one family's outdoor or pendant claims to it. Use the manufacturer's bracket or another approved support where the ceiling system requires independent support.
Separate individual IP endpoints from satellite clusters
An all-IP speaker has its own network, power, configuration and potential SIP identity. A satellite speaker instead shares the main endpoint's amplifier, power budget, audio, zone and supervision path. Satellites can extend coverage with fewer switch ports, but they do not become independently addressable SIP endpoints merely because each grille looks like a separate speaker.
Document which units need individual zones, talkback, health reporting or different volume. Algo's 8198 can power and supervise up to three 1198 satellites; that is a model-specific topology, not a general promise for every ceiling speaker.
Design PoE, amplifier power and coverage together
Record the switch's per-port and total PoE budget, cable path, endpoint input, amplifier output and any power shared with satellites. A PoE+ label does not establish available acoustic output when a switch is oversubscribed, a long cable is defective or several transducers share one amplifier. Preserve the manufacturer's measurement conditions beside any maximum SPL figure.
Use published dispersion and spacing material only as planning input. Room dimensions, ceiling height, background noise, absorptive surfaces, partitions and listener position affect coverage and intelligibility. Do not turn a maximum one-metre test figure into a promised room level or a universal spacing rule.
Commission audibility, intelligibility and safe exposure
Commission the installed room with representative ambient noise and approved test content. Check page start and end, every intended zone, speech intelligibility, level consistency, clipping, dead areas, excessive sound pressure and recovery after network or power interruption. Validate normal pages, bells and urgent messages as distinct workflows without broadcasting a real emergency instruction.
Set ambient-noise response within an agreed minimum and maximum, then confirm that a noisy room cannot drive unsafe or disruptive levels. Acoustic acceptance belongs to the installed space; a bench registration, codec list or audible tone does not complete it.
Protect microphones, management and emergency workflows
An embedded microphone can support talkback or ambient-noise measurement, but it also creates privacy, authorization and retention questions. Define when it is active, who can open a talkback call, whether receivers transmit audio, and how the setting is audited. Restrict web status and administration, replace default credentials and validate certificates, provisioning and network admission where those controls are used.
Keep SIP calls, multicast, stored audio, contact inputs and emergency triggers in a documented priority order with an explicit stop and recovery path. A vendor emergency-alert feature is not by itself a certified life-safety or mass-notification system. Give regulated notification, sound-exposure and accessibility decisions to the responsible qualified parties.
Do not substitute ceiling and horn coverage
Ceiling speakers favor distributed room coverage, while IP horn speakers focus sound directionally for larger or noisier spaces. Preserve dispersion, mounting, obstruction, reverberation and exposure rather than selecting by maximum level alone.
