Documented specifications
Yealink · Microsoft listed Android 15 certification through October 15, 2030 at review; certification, firmware availability, manufacturer lifecycle and product availability can change independently.
| Specification | Documented value |
|---|---|
| Current Teams certification | Android 15; certification firmware 176.15.0.182; listed certification end date October 15, 2030 Source ↗ |
| Display and controls | 7-inch 1024 × 600 capacitive five-point touchscreen, physical dial pad and dedicated Teams button Source ↗ |
| Network and power | Two Gigabit Ethernet ports and IEEE 802.3af PoE Class 3; optional external 5 V/2 A adapter Source ↗ |
| Wireless interfaces | Built-in dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; exact profiles, policy and accessory support still require verification Source ↗ |
| Local interfaces | USB Type-A, USB Type-C, RJ9 handset, RJ9 headset and security-lock ports Source ↗ |
| Expansion path | Up to three EXP50 modules are listed through USB Type-A; module firmware, power, key mapping and tenant workflow remain separate acceptance items Source ↗ |
| Management | Microsoft and Yealink device-management platforms, browser or phone configuration, auto-provisioning, activation code and RPS are listed as distinct mechanisms Source ↗ |
Unlisted fields remain unverified. Platform compatibility and remaining support life require confirmation for the exact ordered model.
Keep MP56 E2 separate from the discontinued original MP56
The exact model name matters. Yealink says the original MP56 Teams Edition was discontinued from September 30, 2024, while the MP56 E2 has a separate current product and support surface. Do not transfer the original model's Android generation, display resolution, Bluetooth version, firmware, lifecycle or orderable part number to the E2 device merely because both front labels contain MP56.
Record the chassis label, part number, hardware revision, installed firmware, Android version and management inventory identifier before planning a replacement or update. A manufacturer product page does not prove stock, regional availability, accessory inclusion or the remaining support term for a particular order.
Treat certification as dated policy, not installed state
Microsoft's live certification table listed MP56 E2 with Android 15, certification firmware 176.15.0.182 and an October 15, 2030 certification end date at review. The certification program describes a tested reference and lifecycle; it does not prove what one phone currently runs. Microsoft's firmware table can publish later releases with bundled Teams, Intune, Authenticator and Admin Agent versions on independent dates.
Capture every installed component at acceptance, compare it with the tenant's approved release ring and recheck the live tables before a purchase or upgrade. Do not force a downgrade to the certification-reference build or claim support through 2030 without also checking current Microsoft and Yealink lifecycle records.
Match the control surface and interfaces to the job
Yealink's March 16, 2026 data sheet lists a seven-inch 1024 × 600 capacitive touchscreen, physical dial pad, dedicated Teams button, dual Gigabit Ethernet, PoE Class 3, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-A and Type-C, and wired handset and headset ports. These documented interfaces help select a desk or reception workflow, but they do not establish RF quality, switch power headroom, cable inclusion, headset controls or accessibility for one user.
Validate touch targets, handset and speaker operation, mute and transfer controls, directory navigation, screen readability, hearing accommodations, wall or desk placement, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, time and certificate path. Keep Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as separate failure and security domains.
Qualify expansion modules as a system
The data sheet lists support for up to three EXP50 expansion modules through USB Type-A. That is an expansion ceiling, not proof that a chosen module, cable, firmware combination, power arrangement, key template or Teams workflow is accepted. Microsoft separately lists the EXP50 certification line with its own firmware and certification end date.
For a receptionist or monitored-line position, inventory each module and firmware, document the mapped keys and privacy rules, and test presence, speed dial, transfer, paging or shared-line behavior that the tenant actually uses. Reboot, update and replacement acceptance should include the complete phone-and-module chain; a lit expansion screen is not proof that every key performs its intended action.
Bind identity, policy, calling and location
Select personal, hot-desk, reception or shared-space use before assigning an account. Teams sign-in, licence, calling policy, PSTN connection, number, caller identity, emergency location and callback handling are separate administrative objects. A successful device-code sign-in proves neither external calling nor an accepted emergency workflow.
Preserve the tenant, account type, usage location, effective policy, number assignment and physical location alongside the device record. Test permitted inbound and outbound destinations, caller identity, hold, transfer, voicemail, queues or shared lines and provider-approved emergency validation without placing an uncoordinated live emergency call.
Keep Hybrid Mode within its documented boundary
Yealink documents Hybrid Mode for MP56 E2 with Teams and survivability application states. The phone returns to Teams mode after reboot according to that guide, and foreground and background behavior can differ. This is not a generic promise that the Teams SKU becomes an arbitrary SIP phone, that every PBX is supported or that both application paths share identity, policy and emergency behavior.
Record whether Hybrid Mode is enabled, the owning service, account, route, update authority and fallback objective. Exercise only an approved configuration and verify alerting, active-call controls, mode switching, restart and recovery on the exact firmware and tenant. Keep the Teams call and survivability call evidence separate.
Pilot the complete managed endpoint
Run a representative pilot through cold boot, sign-in, policy arrival, directory, inbound and outbound calling, caller identity, mute, hold, transfer, voicemail, speaker, handset, approved headset, required expansion keys, update, restart and power or network recovery. Verify management visibility and remove temporary diagnostics and credentials from shared records.
No MP56 E2 phone, order, account, licence, tenant, switch, WLAN, accessory, expansion module, firmware, management platform, protected session, Hybrid Mode workflow, emergency route, availability, price, compatibility, audio result or live call was inspected or tested for this reference.
